This summer, 83 Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian elders climbed aboard a bus for a trip to Florida. It wasn’t just Disneyworld or the sandy beaches they were heading for. They were on their way to Big Cypress Seminole Reservation. Karla Rivera, travel manager at Seminole Tribe of Florida, worked with her counterpart at EBCI to develop a cultural exchange visit. Rivera pulled together a committee of individuals from various departments at STOF to host aspects of the visit. On August 20, 2017, the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum celebrated 20 years of preserving and teaching Seminole history and culture.  The event took place at the museum site on the Big Cypress Reservation in Florida. The event brought together many people from around the community that have contributed great efforts into seeing this museum grow from an idea into a fully accredited and thriving community center.  It was an honor to be in attendance at the event.  Founded in 1997, the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum is a cultural center and museum owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
